Disability Support Worker with Technical Knowledge (Digital Literacy Education for people with disability)

Position & Tech Guru Purpose

We are seeking a passionate and tech-savvy Social Educator to take over and grow our Tech Guru project. This role delivers digital literacy education to people with disabilities, promoting independence and meaningful community participation.

The “Tech Guru” project empowers people with disabilities for independent living using IT devices and technology, including assistive technologies and mainstream tools like smartphones and smart home devices, etc.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver training in digital tools, devices, basic coding, cybersecurity, and AI tailored to clients with intellectual disabilities
• Provide hands-on IT support to assist participants with daily technology use
• Foster participants’ independence and social inclusion through person-centered approaches
• Collaborate with families, stakeholders, and other support workers
• Actively demonstrate THC’s values of respect, social justice, integrity, and responsibility in all interactions

Qualifications and Skills

• Experience in education or teaching (experience with people with disabilities is MANDATORY)
• Solid understanding of digital tools and ability to explain them clearly
• Excellent interpersonal skills with patience and empathy
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively

Desirable

• Prior experience working in the disability sector
• Experience developing training materials or digital content
• Sense of humour, creativity, thinking outside the box, initiative, flexibility
