“Shane was homeless in October 2020. He was not eligible for Social Housing. He had a low level of Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) approval but could not find a home due to his disability and providers specifying that he required robust SDA to be offered a home. Shane’s NDIA funding was also not sufficient as his needs had changed and the NDIA plan review request was rejected. He only had enough funding for support staff for three months. Shane’s clinical psychologist recommended he live on his own due to difficulties living with others. Drawing on THC’s networks a house was rented at an affordable rate in Normanhurst. He had no furniture aside from his personal effects and bedroom furniture. THC set up a crowd funding campaign and raised $1,220 to furnish his home. “
