Head of Strategy & Growth

About The Housing Connection

The Housing Connection (THC) is a registered not-for-profit NDIS provider based in Chatswood, delivering disability services to adults with intellectual and other disabilities across Sydney’s Lower North Shore for over 40 years.

THC delivers services through 5 supported accommodation homes providing 24/7 support, as well as drop-in support to participants living in their family home or their own tenancy. Our services include Supported Independent Living, support coordination, plan management, life skills development and community participation programs.

We are guided by our core values of Social Justice, Passion, Integrity, Social Inclusion, Respect and Effectiveness, and everything we do is shaped by the people we support.

Why this role exists

THC is at an important moment in its journey. We are one year into a three-year strategic plan and the foundations are strong. Now we’re focused on what comes next, building long-term sustainability and diversifying our income streams to reduce dependency on NDIS funding and create the capacity to further improve our service delivery.

This is a newly created role, reporting directly to the CEO, and sits at the heart of that agenda. The Head of Strategy & Growth will own THC’s growth and diversification strategy – identifying opportunities, building business cases and working closely with the CEO and board to make them happen.

What you’ll be doing

  • Leading the development and execution of THC’s growth and revenue diversification strategy
  • Identifying, assessing and executing  new income opportunities –  NDIS, government contracts, partnerships, grants, philanthropy, fundraising, new business models and beyond
  • Developing business cases and presenting recommendations to the board for approval
  • Building and managing strategic partnerships and external relationships
  • Monitoring the NDIS reform landscape and assessing implications for THC’s strategy and positioning
  • Providing regular strategic intelligence to the CEO and contributing to board reporting
  • Leading with influence across the organisation to drive buy-in for the growth agenda

What we’re looking for

This is a player-coach role. We need someone who can think and operate at a strategic level and is equally comfortable rolling up their sleeves to drive implementation. You’ll lead a function, not a team –  a doer as much as a thinker.

  • Senior leadership experience in strategy, growth or commercial roles
  • A track record of delivering real growth, diversification or new revenue outcomes
  • Genuine understanding of the adult disability sector, particularly intellectual disability service delivery
  • Familiarity with the NDIS and the current reform agenda
  • Experience working with or presenting to boards
  • Strong relationship building and influencing skills – you bring people along with you
  • NDIS Worker Check (or willingness to obtain) and NSW Driver’s Licence

What we offer

  • A meaningful leadership role at a values driven organisation with over 40 years of community impact
  • Direct access to the CEO and board, genuine strategic influence from day one
  • The opportunity to build something genuinely new and shape THC’s future direction
  • Flexible working – approx. 60% in our Chatswood office
  • Competitive salary + superannuation + NFP salary packaging (up to $15,900 tax-free p.a.)
  • Permanent role,  full time preferred, part time  considered for the right person
