The Housing Connection disabled housing NSW services were first established in 1981 by a group of concerned citizens and parents of disabled children. The goal of this group was to create more options for community based support services for intellectually disabled adults in New south Wales. The organization was able to achieve pilot funding grants to establish a supported accommodation facility for people in need of behavioral support.

This 24 hour supported facility was designed to provide support and training to clients with the ultimate goal of enabling them to transition into more independent living situations. By 1988, The Housing Connection’s supported accommodation facility was providing permanent accommodations for 4 disabled individuals who had a need for moderate support. They had also helped 4 other individuals to move out of the facility and successfully transition to independent living situations.

In 1989, The Housing Connection expanded their initiative to provide disabled housing NSW to meet a greater demand in local communities for these services. This year marked a major turning point for the organization when it assumed its current form in line with the recommendations of the PARIS group. The Parents and Relatives for the Implementation of Services (PARIS) is a group of parents which was organized to identify unmet needs along with input from a Action for Citizens with Disabilities sub-committee.

The conclusion of the PARIS team was that there was a significant need for more supported accommodation services in New South Wales, and that this represented the most pressing need of individuals who suffered from mental disabilities. Without adequate supported accommodation, many of these people lacked the support and opportunities which would allow them to develop skills to find work and achieve a more independent lifestyle.

The Housing Connection (THC) is a great place to work for those who desire a career helping some of the most historically excluded people in Australian society and addressing the root causes of structural inequality. The Housing Connection is a non profit organization which is dedicated to helping disabled people attain greater independence and quality of life by providing supported accommodations for disabled adults and job training support.

Those people who are interested in applying for jobs with The Housing Connection will need to include a resume and cover letter with their application which clearly state all of the relevant experience they have in relation to the description of the job for which they are applying. All job candidates must also undergo a screening process to ensure that they are suitable for work with vulnerable individuals.

The Housing Connection also requires that all job applicants submit to a Working with Children check for certain jobs and a National Police Check for all jobs. The Housing Connection is an equal opportunity employer which encourages people of all ages, races and backgrounds to apply for open positions. Their goal is to develop a work force which reflects the diversity of the communities in which they operate.

The Housing Connection is committed to practicing equity, transparency and fairness in all of their hiring decisions. The organization encourages people of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islands descent and those with disabilities to apply for job vacancies. However, a current check of The Housing Connection job board shows that no vacancies are currently available. This is unsurprising given the great work environment and generous benefit packages offered by this organizaton.

The Housing Connection (THC) operates a website which provides lots of valuable information for those interested in their services for disabled adults in Australia. One of the features on this website is an expression of interest page which allows prospective new clients or their family members to submit details online and begin the application process for services from the Housing Connection.

When new clients use the expression of interest form to submit their personal details to The Housing Connection, they can expect to receive a quick response to their request. The page can be filled out and submitted online, which is the quickest option, or it can be downloaded to a computer and printed out, then filled out and submitted either by mail or at a local Housing Connection office.

All of the personal information which is collected via the expression of interest form by The Housing Connection is kept in strict confidentiality in accordance with the 1988 Federal Privacy Act. The form includes an area for contact details such as name, address, telephone, email and date of birth. They also ask for information on the type of disability the applicant suffers from and whether or not they already have an ADHC caseworker or an advocate.

The expression of interest form also asks about the type of funding a prospective client has in place, which may include HACC or ADHC funding, and whether or not they are applying for services as a fee for service client. Another section of the form asks detailed questions about the current living accommodations of the applicant, such as whether they are currently living with their parents and where they would prefer to live.

There are many options for those seeking mentally disabled careers, but the choices will often depend on the type of mental disability a person has and the severity of the disability as well. Someone who has chronic bipolar disorder which is not responsive to medications or severe schizophrenia may be unable to work in almost any career and may have to depend on social service programs for survival. However, there are many other individuals who have mild forms of bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and other mental illnesses which are manageable and allow them to find and maintain a wide variety of careers.

It is recommended that people with mental disorders should avoid high stress jobs such as being a doctor or a manager at a company. However, there are noted cases of successful politicians, CEOs and entrepreneurs who are bipolar because this condition can prompt people to take big risks which sometimes pay off big. If not managed properly, though, they may be unable to maintain their success..

It is interesting to note that if you do an internet search for famous people with mental disorders, you will find that many famous people in US history who were diagnosed with serious mental illnesses were still able to pursue disabled careers which brought them great success. In most of these cases, the individuals either suffered from depression or bipolar disorder, including people like Abraham Lincoln, Buzz Aldrin, Winston Churchill, and many famous artists and actors.

There are also many people who suffer from various forms of anxiety disorders which are mild enough for them to pursue a wide variety of career options. For example, those with Asperger’s disease may find that nerdy jobs like computer programmers, librarians and scientific research are a great fit.

The issue of people with disabilities and employment is often a thorny one, especially when it comes to how a resume should be structured to effectively communicate the profile of the disabled applicant in a positive way. Unfortunately, people with mental disabilities still face many challenges in gaining adequate employment due to a lingering social stigma against any type of mental illness in the business world.

Those people who have suffered from mental illness in the past, including long bouts of depression, may have large gaps in their resumes which they may not know how to deal with. Some counselors will advise clients in these situations to engage in volunteer work as a way of filling these gaps and having something positive to put on their resume, but this may not be a viable option for people who are seriously ill.

Therefore, people with disabilities and employment difficulties may benefit from the job training and search support services offered by organizations like The Housing Connection in Australia. Some human resource professionals advise people who have struggled with mental illness in the past to spin it in a positive light on their resume and during an interview.

One of the ways they can do so is to focus on the hard work which they have put in to overcome these hardships and the courage which it took to seek help and improve their lives. This is sure to make a positive impression on many employers. Another option is to seek work with non profits or government agencies which specialize in mental health care, because for these positions a personal experience with mental health issues may count as a major plus.

The Housing Connection (THC) is an Australian organization which provides vital supported accommodation and job training services to disabled adults based on a set of disability service standards. These disability service standards were developed in line with the Disability Services Act of 1993 in order to ensure that each client receives the best possible service and attains the optimal outcomes from the program.

For example, one of the service standards which The Housing Connection adheres to in all of their practices is a commitment to service access, meaning that each client who seeks a service from the organization will receive equal consideration on the basis of available resources and relative need. Another important service standard of The Housing Connection is a commitment to an individual needs approach to program structure. This means that each client will receive a tailored service program which is designed to meet their unique needs in the least restrictive way possible.

Another one of The Housing Connection’s important disability service standards is a commitment to choice and decision making for each client. This focus on choice applies to decisions about the activities and events in which the client will participate in on a daily basis, in relation to their service program. A fourth standard which is closely adhered to at the Housing Connection is a policy of confidentiality, privacy and dignity for each client with respect to every aspect of their life. A fifth standard ensures that The Housing Connection puts a focus on encouraging the maximum integration and participation possible for each disabled person in the program.
