The Housing Connections Disability Services Recommendations

On The Housing Connection website there is a page of useful links which include the Housing Connections recommendations top recommendations of various disability service organizations in Australia which may be helpful to their clients. Included on this list is a link to the Ageing, Disability and Home Care (ADHC) website. The ADHC is one of the biggest and most prominent human services organizations in the state of New South Wales. The ADHC provides a broad range of services and support to over 1 million elderly Australians, as well as to disabled people and their care givers in NSW.

Another link which is featured on The Housing Connection website is to the Disability Services Australia (DSA) website. DSA is one of the largest and most effective employment and community service providers for disabled Australians, currently supporting over 1300 individuals.

The Housing Connections website also links to the Citizens Advocacy Northside website. This organization is dedicated to recognizing, defending and actively promoting the rights of disabled Australians. Another link from the THC website connects clients to the Intellectual Disability Rights Service (IDRS), which is a legal center serving the community in New South Wales. The IDRS serves vulnerable people in the community who suffer from mental disabilities. Their goals are to help these individuals to understand, exercise and advance their legal rights.

The IDRS provides free legal advice on a face to face basis or over the phone to people with intellectual disabilities They also provide court support services for mentally disabled individuals who have to appear in court for criminal proceedings, and they also offers a state wide support service for witnesses, victims and defendants.
