One of the primary objectives of THC Housing is to positively enrich the lives of each of their clients by offering them an individually tailored support and service program to help them achieve their potential. The Housing Connection operates a support service for disabled people which includes 24 hour supported accommodations and job training through their transition to work program. One of the major objectives of the supported accommodation program is to offer training and support which enable disabled adults to take advantage of opportunities to participate in their communities in a more independent manner.
Another objective of The Housing Connection programs are to provide a wide range of training in social, personal, domestic and interpersonal skills that will help each client to live a more satisfying and independent life. These programs have proven to be quite effective in enhancing the social and personal confidence and image of program participants.
Another goal of THC Housing is to offer each client the maximum possible decision making ability in relation to their choice of accommodation and community preference. This includes decision making authority over many details of a client’s personal living situation, such as who they live with, opportunities for interaction with their community and choice of lifestyle options.
The Housing Connection also believes that disabled individuals should benefit form the same rights which are enjoyed by all other members of Australian society. These basic human rights include a right to respect and a decent life, as well as a right to decision making authority in all of their affairs. THC also supports clients rights to privacy and protection from neglect and abuse.
