The Housing Connection (THC) is a non profit organization in Australia which is dedicated to a mission of providing vital support services to disabled adults. These services include supported accommodation, services to help clients transition to work and facilities that provide 24 hours accommodation and support services. The Housing Connection provides a variety of support services to help adults with disabilities, including training to develop communication, social networking and financial management skills and build confidence.
All of the work done by The Housing Connection is guided by a philosophy of measuring success in terms of favorable outcomes for each client. The organization’s main goal is to provide the right level of personal support, opportunities and resources which will allow each client to attain the highest possible quality of life possible.
Another goal of The Housing Connection is to raise the profile of disabled adults by allowing them to contribute to their communities. In order to ensure that each client is receiving the best possible services to meet their needs and goals, The Housing Connection works closely with clients every step of the way to allow them to make as many of the decisions and choices possible to shape a better lifestyle for themselves in the future.
One of the ways that THC accomplishes this mission is through social role valorization, which is a way of assisting disabled adults to make the best possible choices in terms of recreation, holidays, clothing, health care, finances, professional services and many other aspects of life. It also assists disabled individuals in building their social relationships with others in their community in a variety of roles.
